Georgia’s Adopt-A-Highway Program enlists citizen volunteers' help to remove litter from state roadsides.  The volunteers of the Adopt-A-Highway program serve as visible reminders to the public that we are all stewards of the land.  The Church At Covington Missions Department has decided to set an example and has adopted our roadside portion of Hwy 142 between mile markers 14 and 16.  We believe we are all accountable for how we care for God's creations and that includes the community that surrounds us.  Our mission is to challenge, motivate, and inspire everyone to take responsibility for a clean and beautiful community.  Quarterly, we will make a difference in our community and in our world by cleaning our two miles of highway.  See our calendar for the next clean up date!

Prayer

prayer

We live in a time when often we feel hopeless and lost in our surroundings. Our jobs, family problems and financial pressures can be overwhelming. How then are we to deal with the problems of daily life? God’s word says to PRAY continually! Prayer keeps us focused on God and leads us into a more intimate relationship with Him. His word says,

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” - Philippians 4:6

HUMILITY: A KEY TO SUCCESS

What makes humility so desirable is the marvelous thing it does to us; it creates in us a capacity for the closest possible intimacy with God” (Monica Baldwin – Christian author).  Pray that God will help us daily to prefer others, to lift others up, and to walk in humility.  Pray that we have the mind of Christ.

Jas 4:6 – Father thank you for giving us more grace. You oppose the proud but give grace to the humble. 1Pe 3:8 Through the power of Your Spirit, help me live in harmony with others in the body, be sympathetic, full of brotherly love, tender hearted and humble. 1 Pe 5:6-7 Help me humble myself under Your mighty hand, that You may lift me up in due time, casting all my cares upon You, for You care for me. 1 Pet 5:5 You grant grace to the humble. Lord I will never live a day without Your grace so please help me maintain an attitude that welcomes it. Php 2:2-5 You have told me to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit but in humility consider others better than myself, not looking only to my own interests, but also to the interests of others. Right at this moment, I confess all selfish ambition to You. Forgive me for so often considering myself better than others. Let this mind be in me that is also in Christ Jesus. Mt 18:4 – Help me humble myself like a little child for whoever humbles himself is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Pro 13:10 You’re teaching me that pride only produces quarrels: but wisdom is found in those who take good advise. Help me to discern the pride that is involved when I am quarrelsome. Titus 3:2 – Help me to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate and to show true humility toward all men. Jas 3:13 Father You have defined who is wise among us. The one who shows it by his good life, by deeds done in humility that comes from wisdom. Col 3:12-14 I am God’s elect, holy and beloved. Grant me a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience; help me to forbear and forgive others, and above all, to put on love, which is the bond of perfectness. Mt 11:29 Jesus, help me to take Your yoke upon myself and learn from You. You are gentle and humble and I will find rest for my soul. Job 5:11 You set the lowly on a high place and in safety.  Ps 25:9 You will guide the meek in judgment and You will teach the meek Your ways. Jas 4:10 If I am humble in Your sight, You will lift me up.       Is 29:19 The meek also shall increase their joy in the LORD. Is 66:2 Your hand has made heaven and earth. Your Word says, “This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my Word.”  Mt 5:5 You have promised that the meek shall inherit the earth. Pro 22:4 Lord help me remember that humility and the fear of the Lord bring me wealth, honor and life. It is the key to success.

Accept the will of God
Acknowledge my own faults
Live simply

Forgive and seek forgiveness
Be honest about myself
Be willing to learn from others
Listen to people – talk less and absorb what they are trying to say

Community life is made up of several key ministries of the church: Missions, Extended Community Ministries, and Special Community Events. Each of these help us to reach our goal of making a difference in our world through Jesus Christ.
Category: The Church

This includes the annual Easter Egg Hunt,  concerts, etc. Each of these calls for an army of volunteers to assist in hosting our community. The events require only a short term commitment with a specific task assigned to each volunteer. These events are very rewarding as we are able to see many of our community come on and into the House of God that would never set foot in a church service. This gives us the ability to minister God's love to those we might never get the chance otherwise.
